University of Richmond

The German Studies major is an interdisciplinary program that combines courses in German literature, culture and language with context courses in history, philosophy, psychoanalysis and religion. Majors will be exposed to a variety of perspectives on German culture, civilization and history and will be trained in the critical analysis and interpretation of works in German. The program stresses linguistic and cultural proficiency in German while also emphasizing the critical thinking and writing skills requisite for a humanities degree.

Special opportunities include working as practice assistants and participating in study abroad.
